Palm, Inc. has designated the Office of Internet Studies as a Research Hub to study the use of Palm Pilots as they are piloted at four schools in the Omaha Public System. These handheld computing devices will be used for academic activities ranging from water quality data collection to marketing and computer programming.
In conjunction with the Peter Kiewit Institute, the Office of Internet Studies is conducting research into the use of robots in the classroom. This collaborative effort involves middle school teachers from the Omaha Metro area. These teachers are taught the principles of engineering through the hands on construction of their own Tekbots. The ultimate goal is for these teachers to take the skills they've learned back to their classrooms for learning with their students.
