On February 24, 1997, Nebraska Apple K-12 representative, Mark Billington, had graciously agreed to offer a student version of "Multi-media Boot Camp" (MMBC), which he had provided for teachers in Omaha earlier this year. This group of 22 Lexington High students were allowed to sign-up with Community Discovered teacher, Vicki LePorte.
The closing questions put to students were:
1) What value are the skills you learned today? Can you use in the
classroom tomorrow?
I learned how to use hyper studio and videoshop, and now I can finish
a really cool research project
FROM NOW ON IT'S GOING TO HELP ME ALOT IN ALL MY REPORTS ONLY IF SOME
ONE ELS HAS IT
We will be able to enhance the value of our documents that we present
to the rest of the class members.
We learned to make presentations for future projects.
Well, in Anatomy, we are putting together a multimedia pres. and we
can use everything that we learned here to better aid us in that
process.
I learned how to incorporate data into a slideshow, create more
interesting media for presentations, and to incorporate movie and
audio.
Since I have virtually no experience with computers, except for my
PC, this helped me to understand this 'stuff'. I have so much more
knowledge with hyperstudio and what it's capabilities are. Now I can
present information that I already have in a more interesting
manner...
IT WILL HELP US TO TEACH OUR CLASS MATES ABOUT THE COMPUTER. WE CAN
TELL THEM ABOUT HYPERSTUDIO.
2) In a sentence or two try to summarize today's process. Why was
it necessary to use so many different programs?
multi media is multi- for a reason
TO BEGIN WITH EVERY THING WAS PERFECT I LIKED IT ALOT AND THE PROCESS
IS A BIT INTERESTING
The more different programs that you use the more options that you
have to use in the document.
You need many different programs to do specific things.
You use the mouse a lot and you have to open a lot of different
programs to use and then your computer gets overloaded and you have
to restart about 6 million times. If you did everything in one file
then it would be real hard.
has something to do with being able to manipulate the data
Because there a re so many different paths you can take, you must be
very specific
MULTI-MEDIA INVOLVES USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF MEDIUMS
WE LIKED CREATING A MOVIE AND ADDING SOUND
3) What did you like best?
three dog night!!!!
THE BEST PART IS THAT I ENYOIT
We liked the video part of the presentation the best.
Making the movies and cards was fun!
We liked the oppurtunity to be really creative. I t's good to know
that we have this information in our brains now so we can use it when
we go to college so we can woo our professors with technological
prowness.
We got hands on experience.
I liked everything about this opportunity... there was nothing I
disliked!!!
4) What would you change?
I'd take about 21 days to do this
We liked it all!!!
Work with IBMs or windows
Get bigger computers with more hard drive and memory. Also, have more
helpers. Don't assume that we know anything about the computer when
we walk in or else we get really lost, really easily.
Better equipment and everyone have their own computer.
WE WOULD WANT MORE PEOPLE TO HELP US.
