Teacher Narrative on Youth Arts Month to CD Eval Team

Many of the teachers involved with Community Discovered and Art and Technology are helping with Youth Arts Month activities here in GI. We will have displays at our City Hall, The Mall, and The City Library. We will have a billboard with a child's work as central up the month of March, We will have students thoughts about art airing on local radio stations as spotlights. We will have video tapes of students learning about and making art as well as talking about their art on a local TV channel. We hope to get newspaper and TV coverage when we have our puppeteer artist with us. Trish Place will be in GI for three weeks working with each of the elementary buildings. Each of those weeks there is a core class who will perform a play somewhere in our community. Also, the artist will be giving workshops for teachers each Thursday after school in March. Last night I chose the works to represent us at the State Capitol Art Show from Newell. Each school this year may send two works. Guna Magnuson's student did a science and art together lesson on Pointillism and her floral work will be represented. Jacy Rodysill will have a first grade representation. Betty Desaire has done a lot of work on each of these projects.
