Goal Statement: To capitalize upon and expand a unit of study in the fourth grade curriculum. This theme immersion will be important to the entire classroom community. It will be broad enough in scope for each child to explore (on his/her own level) answers to individual or group developed questions.

1. Student choice and request are important in all aspects of this inquiry based unit. Utilize the lab of 24 computers to do research and down load images.

2. Students learn to gather information on their personal disks. Students will e-mail messages to individuals asking for more information on the subject.

3. Activities will be related to integral aspects of content area.

a) Students will be immersed in the study of a particular state.

b) They will have checklist to assist in making choices.

c) Students will gather information on their "adopted state".
