[ For a Road Map of the Area ]

There are several application which will produce 'virtual reality' landscapes and flights. You may choose one of them rather than 'VistaPro'.

Do a "Landscape" of the area using a dem. Refer to a tutorial for this technique if you choose. Identify locations in the rendered landscape.

You may select a tutorial for the development of coordinates for a VistaPro Flight in the area or you may select those of your own. How to convert DEM data to VistaPro is a method for using a 'dem' to find coordinates for a VistaPro Flight. It compares a 'dem' to a 'road map' both of which may be found in Virtual California and California Images are available from the Jet Propulsion Lab.

A Virtual Reality Flight over the Santa Ines Mountains

Take a 'DEM' from which you constructed a landscape or one selected for your flight. Load it into 'MakePath'. Save the Script.

Load the 'Script' and the 'DEM' into VistaPro. Check the 'Quality' you prefer. Establish the Nodes. Connect the Nodes.

Examine a cross-sectional view of the flight to see if you clear the mountains! Adjust the altitude of the flight with the nodes (the red boxes) in the cross-sectional view so that you don't crash into the mountain! Save the flight as a QuickTime movie.
