Digital Imaging Project for Week
7
The project for this week goes along with the
Image of the Week....Web Searching. You don't have a specific
assignment in addition to the IOW. However, you do need to find
images that you can use to create your own dataset. The images can be
of any type and size. In the coming weeks we will help you get them
ready to make into a DataSlate dataset. TerraServer is one place you
can look for images. Other places you may want to
look.....
- Your local historical society.
- Your regional Natural Resources District.
(state government)
- Your state environmental agency (like the
EPA).
- Federal agencies dealing with agriculture in
your area.
- Colleges or Universities in your area may have
resources.
- State fish and wildlife agencies.
- National Park Service.
Here is a list of possible resources that you
might try.
Images
- EarthExplorer
(tutorial that will allow you to find NASA imagery for anywhere in
the world.)
- USGS
Imaging Search Page tutorial to find national images. This is
where you may want to begin to find "Your
Backyard From Space".
- Space
Images with maps, GPS, address
- Compressed
Ortho Digital Quarters for Nebraska. A valuable publication to
have is "Nebraska Index to topographic and other Map Coverage"
(NEBRASKA 40096-MI-99X) with a "Nebraska Map List". These two
pieces of print material will be extremely valuable to use in
conjunction with the images, 'Compressed Digital Ortho Quarters'.
