Week 6 Image of the Week - TerraServer

Below is a link to an image of the ARDC Farm. Unlike other images we have seen so far, this one is interactive. It comes from a web site called TerraServer. TerraServer is a web-site that allows you to search for aerial photography for numerous locations around the world.

Terraserver Controls

Size buttons, S, M, L, control the amount of image you see on the screen. By clicking L you will see more of an area but not change the resolution.

Style Buttons, Relief, Topo, and Photo will change the type of image you see for an area.

Scale shows the scale for an image. In this image the smallest item on the ground you could identify would be 16 meters in length. On most TerraServer images, you can get down to 1 meter resolution.

Zoom Buttons allow you to zoom in on an image. A better way is to click your mouse inside the image. This will recenter the image and zoom in at the same time.

Also, green arrows at the edges of an image will allow you to move in that direction.

Click on the link to the ARDC Farm below. Take some time to explore the farm using the tools at the left of this page. When you are finished return to this page and continue with Part II. (A thumbnail image is included to show the boundaries of the Farm.)
