DataSlate

DataSlate is a program developed by Jet Propulsion Lab engineers. It is designed to quickly allow teachers and students to access and use remotely sensed data (space pictures). This week we are going to introduce you to DataSlate and its capabilities.

You were mailed a DataSlate CD at the beginning of the course. This program needs a fairly quick computer. The minimum requirements for a Macintosh are a PowerMacintosh with at least 32 MB of RAM and system 7.6.1. A PC needs to be at least a Pentium with at least 16 MB of RAM with Windows 95, 98, or NT. On both platforms more RAM is better. Both platforms also need to have Java's Virtual Machine software installed as well. Virtual Machine is a free program that you can download for the Macintosh. Virtual Machine is included on the CD for the PC.

You must have Virtual Machine installed on your computer to run DataSlate.
