In this week's project, you will use DataSlate's Tool Box to work with the Mahoney SimpleStruct that you created two weeks ago. In order to calibrate the tools for this image set, we must modify the '.lbl' file contained in the folder for the image set. When you open the Mahoney folder, you will find the 'mahoney.lbl' file. It's in the same folder as all the 'nw.....' folders and must remain there. For each dataset you use, if you want the tools to operate properly, modify the '.lbl' file to contain appropriate pixel size and lat-lon information. (This part will be quite easy because it compares lat-lon values with Photoshop 'x-y' coordinates which you have used before.)
When you 'adapt' your own 'lbl' file, you will discover that the values you find may vary slightly from one trial to another. It is important to be as precise as possible while you are working with the tutorials. There will be errors inherent in any of the systems but we should try to keep them minimal. Experience and practice will be important as you proceed through your project.
You will want to work with the DataSlate tools to answer some questions about the Mahoney imagery. In order to calibrate the tools for this image set, here are some tutorials that are provided to help you.
As you work with the DataSlate tools, find the answers to these questions....
The losalamos.zip has a number of images of the Los Alamos fires that are worth looking at.
You don't need to submit answers to the questions. However if you have questions or insights you may want to include them in the 'Discussion Board'.
