A Recipe for Converting JPEG Images to SimpleStruct

A More Definitive Way to Create DataSets (with images)

Send for the UserName and PassWord

You may send JPEG images to the JPL Server where SimpleGen converts the images to the SimpleStruct format. The images may then be used in the DataSlate application.

Open the JPL Website with the following address: <http://casde.jpl.nasa.gov/sg_server/ >

A dialog box will appear and ask you to enter your name and password. This information is available from your instructors.

To begin, enter the following information and click on 'Continue'.

(NOTE: There is limited error-checking, so make sure entries are accurate and correct)

1. Your e-mail address (for notification after processing is complete): ____
2. Name of SimpleStruct (8 characters or less): (Make a folder and assign a name to it. This name will be the one you select with the 'Load' button on the DataSlate application. Within this folder, make a folder for each image you are sending to JPL. Place each image in its folder. These image folders will have the name which appears in the channel title window of DataSlate. )
3. Number of Themes/Images To Be Inserted Into SimpleStruct: (pull down menu)______
4. Press 'Continue' or 'Reset'.
   

1. File: (Browse to enter the file name of the first image in the dataset. This image resides within its own folder which you prepared under item 2 above. This folder name will appear in the channel title window of DataSlate.)
2. Format: (This will be the type of image file; JPEG, TIFF or GIF)
3. ID (8 characters or less): (This is the name which will appear in the channel title window of DataSlate.)
4. 'Continue' or 'Reset'.

Press: 'Create SimpleStruct' or 'Start Over'.
