How to open a file in DataSlate

Note that the RED text denotes steps in the process. BLACK text explains and clarifies the process.

1) Copy the zipped file to your computer (In this example it is c.zip) and double click on it to expand the file.

Note: If you are loading the datasets shown on the original screen, press the 'Browse' button and follow the scheme below except that you will open the pathway to the CASDE CD, go to 'datasets', and choose the dataset to be opened. 'Choose' the 'lbl' file for the dataset of your choice.

2) You will create a new folder in this process. (see right) When I double clicked on c.zip it created Harlan.

3) Below you can see the process. The first red circle is where the folder will be located. The second folder is what the folder will be named. Pay attention to this information!

4) Launch DataSlate and click the Load button.

 5) Locate the folder that was created when you unzipped the file. In that folder there will be a XXXXX.lbl file. The .lbl file is the file that DataSlate uses to open.

6) Select the .lbl file and click open.

7) You should get the picture at the right. Now you can utilize the dataset in DataSlate.

Note: If you are using MacOS 9, and the dataset does not open, you will need to install a few lines of code in the 'lbl' file.
