I will be using a PC with a Pentium processor (I'm not sure of the speed) with Windows 95. I do have Photoshop 5.5 and Excel (Office 97) available. I have used Claris Home Page quite a bit and I'm also familiar with Microsoft Front Page.

Subject: Program availability
When you are considering availability to programs like Photoshop think districtwide, not just your school or home computer. For instance if you have a journalism department in the high school you may have access to Photoshop there. It is not as convenient as having it on your machine, but you do have access and therefore the opportunity to learn new information. If you have previously written WebQuests, you might want to look into the possibility of access to PhotoShop somewhere within your district. xxxxxxx

I am working on PC's both at home and at school. At home my computer runs at 400mHZ, I'm not sure about the one at school. Both are working under Windows 98. I have Excell in both places; I'm not sure about the other programs that are available at school. I'll check.

Subject: Image Assignment
Image assignment 1. Area 1,1 seems to be a good one with creek activity and ponds. Seems like effort is made to utilize the acreage next to a creek. Usually it is hard to get access to this area at times. However, the soil is usually good and productive. 2. 2,3 is the square for the location. Amount of cover is usually the reason for the color difference. This could be due to the type of crop left or rotation for future crops. Like alfalfa on half and corn on the other half so that it would not hurt the entire crop if something happened/ 3. The middle far right plot seems to be the field plots since it is divided into smaller ones with different colors. The lower far right since to be the pasture type setup with no major creeks, etc. since that could be a point source pollution if used as a creek for drinking purposes of cattle. 4. A body of water would normally be black or dark. Certain situations would change this. If the pond was dry, it would be a different lighter color. Soil pollution would also change the color or the pond. It looks like agriculture is very close to the pond for a possible soil pollution entry way and causing it to be lighter. The majority of the ponds on the Navajo Reservation is SW U.S. are this way with shallow depth due to soil pollution. Dark squares could be sewage collecting ponds or other retaining water setups. 5. The buildings seem to be above the pivot sprinkler which is 2,3. Looks like farm buildings. Also look like some within a shelter belt area to for protection.

At home, have a Presario Compaq computer and printer. It is set up through the msn with Radio Shack. This is a gift from Radion Shack with the teacher program award. At school, am using a Mac with Clariswork and excel. However, it is an older Mac and suppose to have newer computers soon. Always enjoyed the Mac since it was located at all the research facillities that I have been at, etc.
