I found that the Microsoft web site has several ag related clip art files. You may have to have Microsoft products install on your computer, but I'm not sure. The clip art is free to download.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure that it will be helpful to some of our farmers.

Fellow classmates and Instructors,
I'm a little confused about the Resource Page and the Teacher Submission Page.
Should the contents of the Resource Page be all the websites that we have linked to throughout the Webquest, plus other sites we feel would be informative to our students? This is my concept: is it correct?

Concerning the Teacher Submission Page, should we have a similar page in our Webquest showing objectives, age groups, etc, or is it sufficient to have only the Teacher Submission Page indicating this information? I'm unclear on this. I have worked on the page some, but need to get the rest in writing.
Thank-you for your help, xxxxxxxxxx.

xxxxxxx,
I envision the resource page as a list of sites that students can use to solve your problem. It may be other types of info as well (tutorials, documents, etc.) So I think that you are right on with the resource page.

The teacher submissin (lesson submission) form will have quite a bit of duplication with your project it would be nice to have this information in both places. This will allow people to find it when searching for the lesson and then when actually in the lesson they will not have to go back to the database. You can use copy and paste for this. The information must be in the lesson submission form. The information in the project would be nice to have (preferred). Hope this helps.

Seems like a lot of options are put up this way whether you want it or not. Some frog pops up and wants you to down load its program so that you can be faster, etc. Kind of scary not knowing if this is your bill or not. Had to even get out of it to avoid the hassle and start over again.

The clip art had some $ to it to along the way so I aborted the situation to be sure that a wrong choice was not made, etc.

Also the Resource page is showing up to be like the stuff we have acumulated. Ronda had a nice form to refer to when stumped. Probably are others but seem to have lost the place on the web where they are located, etc. Still trying to find out how certain things were done so I could get a form that look like some of the fellow farmers. WOW! So much to explore.

The teacher page is looking like a standard form with links to the standards of the national and state. That is as soon as it is found.

Need I say anymore about that level of technology is seeking up on me. Funny how some students would like and some not like the challenge since you have the way and their way as well. Wish there was a way to limit there searching in a limited area. Wanted to look at the cool lessons site during class with the 8th graders. Was excited and so were they. The unexplainable thing happened! The server was down during that hour and they wanted to check in another room, etc. Needless to say it was down in that room as well. Would be neat to be able to download two or three levels of that so they could go search that the server would not control like it did that day. That can be frustarting with 26 8th graders on 5 computers, etc.

However, class is only temporary. Did survive for another day with a little more wisdom.

It sounds like you are making progress. You are right when servers go down it is frustrating. By the way there was a good discussion about free clipart and numerous sites in the week 10 forum

I seem to be having difficulty locating the work I've already done. I thought I was just in a hurry and mistyped the lesson name, but, after trying over an hour, I don't seem to be able to locate my lesson. If you have suggestions, PLEASE email me!!!!
My lesson was entitled: From Farm to Table.

When filling out the Teacher Page (or simply editing it), you need to be sure to go to the BOTTOM of the page (teacher page form) and click on the 'EDIT' button so that the page is installed.
Invariably, people forget to tell the application to 'save' the editing. That almost always (I did it too!) happens until you get a LOT of information entered and forget to 'edit' to save. After that, it's easier to remember.
If this is NOT the case, let us know and we'll take a look at other possibilities.

(PS - it's just like hitting the submit button in the Discussion Board.)

I reiterate what xxxxxxxxsaid about hitting the edit or submit button. If you enter any information in a form you have to send the information somewhere. This is done by clicking a submit button. If this is not what is happening let us know and we will have to track it down. BTW this is a very common mistake. When I first created a lesson for OIS 2 years ago I filled out the whole form and didn't submit. I always remember after losing that 2 hours of work. Also it may be good to submit every so often as a matter of practice to avoid crashes etc. The lessons learned this way tend to be harsh by permanent:(

I had to do the teacher page first, to be able to plug in the webquest. I am using the 4Mat style of lesson plan, which addresses varied learning styles.I am used to planning this way. It gave me a well planned unit in which to place the webquest.

My biggest problems have been in the use of the technology , which should begin to get easier.

Agreed on the technology getting easier!!! This happens with experience and that is what you are developing. BTW good job on the lesson form. You are the first and I am referring people to your form to see what you did!!!

My biggest problem was deciding on a farm topic. Once I decided
things started to flow, but I found out that I took too much time
in the "undecided" position. Now I am paying for that!
I've noticed that others are frustrated with the amount of information available and the amount of time needed to explore it. I too get caught up in a web site and before I know it I'm supposed to be buying something. I am still a little confused regarding the teacher submission page vs information uploaded from Claris Home Page...is there a difference??? If so, someone let me know. Also, I have trouble remembering that I am writing for middle school students and not adults. Therefore, I have my thoughts proof read by my 7th graders. If they're lost then I figure others will be, too.
Well, better go farm as I'm feeling behind!

I hear you on the overload of info and time to search the web. It is mind boggling!! Perhaps we need to pick a few good sites and go on. We cannot study them all.
My understanding and best wishes for getting caught up,
xxxxxxx.

Isn't it great to have a whole bunch of editors on hand? And they let you know, don't they?
The Teacher Submission Page is the page that takes care of the all the administrative stuff that is required by most districts. Here is where yoiu enter an overview of the project, for whom it's intended, the Standards, materials needed, objectives etc.
This is accessed from different location but the easiest one is on the Announcement Page (opening page). The link says "Teacher Lesson Submission Page".
As for the information you upload (web pages, images, etc.), these are the meat and potatoes parts of the lesson.
To get an idea of how this goes together, check Betty Foster's project.
Go to the 'Teacher Lesson Submission Form'.
Choose 'Search'.
Enter 'Circle' for a title or 'foster' for a name and hit 'Start Search'.
Click on the title 'Circle Sleuths'.
You are on the 'Teacher Page'.
NOW, scroll down the page until you see 'Student Pages' on the left side of the page.
Click on the link called 'Student pages'.
You are in the lesson whcih you could find by going to the Announcement page and clicking on 'Spring 2001 Project Pages'.

The quantity of information is sometimes overwhelming. The subtle (and not so subtle) sales pitchs are often annoying.
We (all of us!) have to reach a point where we can wade through this morass of material and choose what we want. It's tricky to search the piles of information and to choose what is effective and reliable. Hopefully 'The Farm' is a vehicle to help you through some of the pains of 'web-searching'. Good Luck!
xxxxxx

Hey, xxxxxxx- thanks again for the use of your pages!
